Vehicles in Germany's Town Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Roughly 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Officers state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.

The substance had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then found numerous other marked cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement state early analysis indicate the fluid was probably human blood.

"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; investigators are presently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they commented.

Local authorities said they were trying "to resolve the case" and have asked to the residents for tips.

A senior representative commented the attack made him without words and required to be solved promptly.

"This incident hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he posted on social media, recalling the death of nine victims by a gunman targeting individuals of immigrant origin in five years prior.
